Welcome to our church family!
We're grateful you're here.
The Ushers and Greeters Ministries are open to all members of the parish interested in helping welcome and assist others at our Masses.
Ushers Missions Statement
The mission for the Ushers Ministry at St. Matthias is to assist all people in receiving the Lord. Ushers are the visible ministers who provide personal service and courtesies to parishioners before, during, and after Mass. This includes welcoming, seating, helping to make people with special needs comfortable, and offering any assistance needed by parishioners. Through effective execution of the Ushers duties, you will help enhance your own and other’s experience of the Liturgy.
Ushers also answer questions, seat late arrivals, point out restrooms, and help with emergencies. As the custodians of the church, Ushers straighten, organize, and secure the church insuring that everything is in order upon leaving the facility. Being an Usher is not simply a job, but a gift of service.
Greeters Mission Statement
Greeters present a feeling of welcome to all members and guests of the Parish. They perform that important function by personally welcoming each person in a warm and friendly manner before the beginning of Mass and also answer questions. In many case, the Greeter is the first person a member or guest may interact with when arriving for Mass which provides an opportunity for the Greeter to help get their Mass experience started on a positive note.
